Data Controller vs. Data Processor — Our Role
Understanding Techmov's role in the data processing chain is important for transparency and legal compliance:
| Techmov as Data Controller | Techmov acts as Data Controller for personal data collected directly from website visitors and Clients — including onboarding information, billing data, and usage analytics for our own business purposes. |
| Techmov as Data Processor | Techmov acts as a Data Processor when processing End User personal data on behalf of Clients. In this capacity, Techmov processes data only pursuant to Client instructions and applicable agreements, and not for Techmov's own purposes. |
| Client as Data Controller | Clients are the Data Controllers in respect of their End Users' personal data. Clients determine the purpose and means of communicating with End Users and are responsible for obtaining valid consent and complying with all applicable data protection laws. |

How We Use Your Data
Techmov uses personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Platform and Services.
- To onboard and manage Client connections.
- To deliver messages via SMS and other services on behalf of Clients.
- To generate and provide delivery reports, analytics, and audit logs.
- To process billing and payments.
- To provide customer support and respond to enquiries.
- To notify you of service changes, updates, or security notices.
- To detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, and technical issues.

- For any other purpose with your explicit consent.
Techmov does not sell, rent, or trade End User personal data to any third party for their own marketing purposes.
Opt-In, Opt-Out & End User Consent
How End Users are opted in: End Users receive communications from businesses (Clients) using the Techmov platform only after those businesses have obtained explicit opt-in consent. Techmov requires all Clients, as a condition of service, to obtain and document valid opt-in consent from End Users before sending any message. The consent must clearly identify the sending business and the nature of messages to be received.
How End Users can opt out: End Users may opt out of receiving messages from any business using Techmov at any time by:
- Replying STOP (or equivalent keyword) to an SMS message.
- Contacting the sending business directly to request removal from their messaging list.
- Using any opt-out mechanism provided in the message or the business's own platform.
Opt-out requests must be processed by the Client within 24 hours. Techmov may enforce opt-out obligations where violations are identified.
What Techmov does not do: Techmov does not initiate unsolicited communications to End Users on its own behalf. Techmov does not add End Users to any marketing list without their direct, informed consent.
Data Retention
Techmov retains personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Client data — retained for the duration of the service relationship and for up to 7 years after termination for legal and financial compliance purposes.
- Message metadata (delivery logs, timestamps, message IDs) — retained for up to 12 months for operational and audit purposes, unless a longer period is required by law or requested by the Client for their own compliance needs.
- Contact form and support data — retained for up to 3 years.
- Financial and billing records — retained for a minimum of 5 years in accordance with UAE commercial law.
When retention periods expire, data is securely deleted or anonymised. Clients may request early deletion of their data subject to applicable legal obligations.
International Data Transfers
Techmov is headquartered in Dubai, UAE. Data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including:

- Carrier networks — for SMS delivery to recipients in various countries.
Techmov ensures appropriate safeguards are in place for all international transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or other legally recognised mechanisms under GDPR and UAE PDPL. A list of third-party sub-processors is available on request.

- Service Providers. To contracted third parties who support our operations (hosting, analytics, billing), bound by data processing agreements and confidentiality obligations.
- Carrier Networks. Data necessary for message delivery (recipient numbers, message content) is transmitted to telecommunications carriers for the purpose of delivering messages. Techmov does not share data with carriers beyond what is technically required for delivery.
- Safety & Security. Where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Techmov, our Clients, End Users, or the public.
- With Your Consent. In any other case where you have expressly consented to the disclosure.
Techmov does not sell personal data to data brokers or third-party advertisers.
